I was so happy when Pantone first announced that the colour of the year would be emerald. I already have plenty of emerald in my closet! Because emerald is such a strong colour it can be tricky to incorporate it into all seasons. We usually see it in the fall/winter as it’s a deeper jewel tone. So what to do if you’re having a spring wedding?
Keep the colours light by using emerald as your darker shade of green and using a light green as your secondary colour. Because it is spring you can use lots of greenery in your centerpieces for a “fresh yet earthy” feel.
Summer
Emerald pairs nicely with a soft pale yellow. You don’t want to go too bright or you will be reminded of the yellow brick road on the way to Emerald city. Try incorporating soft yellows in your bouquet.

Fall
Jewel Tones! Take advantage of this… mix your emerald with other deep tones such as dark purple, burgundy, or rich navy blues.
Winter
Winter is another easy season to incorporate emerald into as it’s a traditional holiday colour. Mix emerald with cream for a fresh take on holiday colours without getting too cheesy.

Happy New Years Eve! To finish up the year we thought we would post our latest styled shoot, which is holiday themed, perfect for a Christmas or New Years Wedding! This creative shoot was also featured on Wedding Obsession! Thank … Continue reading
Happy December! I start celebrating the holidays in early November, however a lot of you wait until now before even thinking about the upcoming holidays. In preparation for the big event I will be posting a party/event tip each and every day this month! We love planning for parties, events and weddings, so enjoy the tips!
Holiday Party Planning Tip 1
Pick a style or theme of the party and run with it. Will it be a sit down dinner, a cocktail party, or something more outside-of-the-box like a murder mystery party? Do you have a theme? If so, you can make your food to fit the theme of the party. The more you tie the little details into the theme, the more put together your party (and you) will look!
I had a consultation with a bride a few months back and I created this inspiration board for her based on her colours, theme and ideas.
This is a very traditional fall theme, browns, golds, reds and oranges make up the colour scheme. We added personal touches such as apple butter favours, caramel apples and an apple cider bar.
As September hits, we start to think about fall. What are this years fall wedding trends? We will see ideas outside the box, rather then a traditional red, gold and orange colour scheme? Here are some of the trends I predict or hope we will see.
1. Jewel-toned colour scheme.
2. Rich, statement food, with lots of flavour.
3. A long rectangular table for guests
4. An Entire sweet/dessert table instead of just the cake

What do you think? Are you planning a 2012 Fall wedding that will incorprate any of these trends?
When we think of weddings, the majority of us often think of the reception first. What can we do to have the best party ever? There is nothing wrong with wanting to have a great reception, but let’s not get carried away with the whole reason for the wedding in the first place. It is to celebrate your marriage to eachother. What better way to truly celebrate your marriage then you have a ceremony that you and your fiance will remember forever.
Location
Decide on a location that suits you as a couple. Are you religious? Do you need to have your wedding at your family church, synagoge or mosque? If not, what locations speak to you? Where did you first meet, where did he propose? What activities do you like to do together? Find a place with meaning and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. Just because the place you want to get married at doesn’t offer weddings, doesn’t mean they won’t.
Content
Make sure your ceremony program is something you both agree upon. Write your own vows. What is a better way to celebrate your marriage then by making personalized promises to eachother.
Decor
Don’t forgot about your ceremony decor. When it comes down to it, that is the moment that matters, put as much thought into decor as you would the reception. You will want the photos of the ceremony to be just as a beautiful.
If you are looking for a unique wedding idea to spruce up your wedding, take a look at some of these themes. These ideas get rid of the same old wedding feel by introducing activities and fun decor and liven up your day and ensure your guests are talking about your wedding for years.
1. Carnival Themed Wedding
This a super fun idea and great for couples who are all about having fun and don’t mind having a slightly more casual wedding.
To really pull this theme off you need to pay attention to all of the little details. Games, cotton candy, candy apples, and amazing props for photo time really pull this theme together.
2. Casino Themed Wedding
This is a great option for couples who want to introduce a little fun and lots of interest to their wedding while still keeping it classy and formal. A Casino Royale theme is a great option as it offers a black tie option.
This is another theme that does well with lots of attention to detail. Basically this is a posh cocktail party, and that is the feel you want your guests to have!
3. Chocolate Themed Wedding
This is meant for those couples who just can’t live without chocolate, the couples who have a die hard sweet tooth and want to celebrate their favourite indulgence.
Think about what you can have made in chocolate to add the extra touches to this theme. For example, place cards, centerpieces, straws, etc.
I love this colour theme. I love the pretty pastels colours and the overly feminine wedding you can get away with with this colour scheme. The mint and pale peach blend so perfectly with eachother it just wisps you off of your feet and into dream! This colour scheme is perfect for a spring wedding, a wedding with a whimsical theme and any girly girls out there!
