Weddings in Niagara | WPIC Kick Off Event

Last night I attended the first of hopefully many annual kick-off events with WPIC. We often have regional get-togethers, and we have an online community to chat about whats happening in the industry, but last night our regional reps brought all of the Ontario regions together.  What happens when you attend an event planned by not 1 by 5 wedding planners? Magic, that’s what!

Please excuse our iphone photos !

The event started at Renaissance on the Creek in Mississauga  as a cocktail hour with a signature drink. Beautiful blue cotton candy martinis. I wasn’t drinking, so I didn’t try one but they sure looked yummy! The cocktail hour was a great opportunity to meet up with fellow planners. They had a photo booth, some new secret apps for our phones, and my favourite was the giant jenga game! Yes- a giant jenga game from Party Starters. What a great idea!

After cocktail hour we moved into the main room while listening the AMAZING band Shugga. Seriously this band is fantastic! If you are looking for a wedding band, contact Arthur from Fusion Events.

Dinner was then served. I’m not a huge salad person, but look how pretty it was! And the dressing was amazing!

On a side note, the buns they served were sooo yummy! I love me some carbs!!Our entree was chicken stuffed with super yummy rice that tasted more like risotto., veggies and potato wedges. Sorry no photo, I was busy eating! Dessert was a trio of mini creme brulee, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse in a chocolate cup!

During dinner with had a presentation from Paras Events, speaking to us about how to keep balance in our business and personal lives. We then had a panel of experts moderated by the amazing Lindsay Mogford. WPIC then presesnted some of us with special certificates for beign part of the WPIC community!

Shugga finished off the night with their stellar sound!

Thank you so so much to all of the reps who put this event together! It was well worth it, and I hope it becomes an annual event!

Wedding Fashion Niagara | Spring 2013 Fashion Trends by Priti Patel

Today we have a wonderful guest post from Priti Patel just in time for NYC Fashion week!

Spring 2013 Wedding Fashion Trends

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be guest posting about wedding fashion trends for this upcoming spring. As the
seasons change, I love to see what wedding dress designers come up with for their collections.

As I was doing my research for this post, I discovered that Melissa Sweet is back! If you are unfamiliar with Sweet, she
is known for dressing celebs such as Giuliana Rancic and for her brand, Melissa Sweet Bridal. The brand was bought by
Priscilla of Boston, which, unfortunately for Melissa Sweet loving brides, closed a couple years ago. But now the designer
has brought her talents to David’s Bridal and I am in love with her first collection!

This collection is perfect for the romantic bride who wants to look and feel beautiful and feminine. It features many of the
trends that will be very popular this spring, take a look below at what you can expect to see this season.

Lovely Lace

Niagara Falls Wedding Planner

There is no fabric more elegant and feminine than lace. There are many different ways lace can be incorporated into
a dress. It can be used as part of an overlay, lace appliques can be applied directly, or illusion lace can be unlined.
Princess Kate Middleton’s illusion lace wedding dress started a huge trend that is still popular today. It is a great way to
be covered, without looking overly modest.

Structured Styles

Structured styles such as this Mikado column gown will be a popular choice for brides who want a more modern and high
fashion look. Dresses such as those with peplum skirts have been big lately and the trend will continue with wedding
dresses. These styles, best suited for the more daring bride, will surely leave an impression on guests and are not soon
to be forgotten.

New Necklines

wedding dress

No longer are the only options for a dress regular straps or strapless. You can expect to see creative new styles in the
neckline department this spring. From one shoulder styles to halters tying into fashionable bows, the purpose of straps
extends beyond function into style, adding to the beauty and uniqueness of a dress. These new options will give brides
the ability to find the perfect neckline for their body type.

backless dress

Designers are making sure that the back of the dress is as beautiful and as much of a focal point as the front. After all,
it is the back of the dress the guests will see when the bride is up at the alter and during the first dances. Lace keyhole
backs are a great way to show a little skin without being inappropriate. A more simple style is button accents down the
length of the backside, showing off the figure. You can expect to see a variety of beautiful backs that have brides looking
as breathtaking going as they do coming.

Not featured in this collection, unfortunately, are colored styles that are sure to be a hit this spring. Platinum and
champagne dresses were big in the winter, and you can expect to see fresher looks like blush and floral printed dresses
in the spring on the bride who dares not to wear white. As for wedding colors, Emerald, the color of the year, is sure to be
present, and can be incorporated into any season.

Are you as in love with this collection and these trends as me? Can you see yourself walking down the aisle in any of
these looks?

Niagara Falls Wedding Planning | Most Popular Wedding Month change?

In the Niagara Falls area, July and August have always been the most popular months to get married in. Our weather has been so unpredictable that over the last 10 years or so you could always depend on July and August to give you nice wedding weather. However, in the past couple of years June and September have taken the lead with the most weddings happening.

Many couples are realizing just how stinkin’ hot and humid it is during July and August.

How many brides have had their wedding during these months and wanted to be in the picture above? Couples are choosing to opt for a late spring, early fall wedding rather then right in the middle of the summer.

If you’re thinking either of these months would be a good time to have your wedding, make sure you book early with your vendors, June and September fill up fast! If you are still set on a summer wedding, stay tuned for our” beat the heat summer wedding tips”!
