Weddings in Niagara | WPIC Kick Off Event

Last night I attended the first of hopefully many annual kick-off events with WPIC. We often have regional get-togethers, and we have an online community to chat about whats happening in the industry, but last night our regional reps brought all of the Ontario regions together.  What happens when you attend an event planned by not 1 by 5 wedding planners? Magic, that’s what!

Please excuse our iphone photos !

The event started at Renaissance on the Creek in Mississauga  as a cocktail hour with a signature drink. Beautiful blue cotton candy martinis. I wasn’t drinking, so I didn’t try one but they sure looked yummy! The cocktail hour was a great opportunity to meet up with fellow planners. They had a photo booth, some new secret apps for our phones, and my favourite was the giant jenga game! Yes- a giant jenga game from Party Starters. What a great idea!

After cocktail hour we moved into the main room while listening the AMAZING band Shugga. Seriously this band is fantastic! If you are looking for a wedding band, contact Arthur from Fusion Events.

Dinner was then served. I’m not a huge salad person, but look how pretty it was! And the dressing was amazing!

On a side note, the buns they served were sooo yummy! I love me some carbs!!Our entree was chicken stuffed with super yummy rice that tasted more like risotto., veggies and potato wedges. Sorry no photo, I was busy eating! Dessert was a trio of mini creme brulee, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse in a chocolate cup!

During dinner with had a presentation from Paras Events, speaking to us about how to keep balance in our business and personal lives. We then had a panel of experts moderated by the amazing Lindsay Mogford. WPIC then presesnted some of us with special certificates for beign part of the WPIC community!

Shugga finished off the night with their stellar sound!

Thank you so so much to all of the reps who put this event together! It was well worth it, and I hope it becomes an annual event!

Niagara Weddings | Niagara Valentines Day Date Ideas

Happy Valentines Day! If you are like us, we can never decide on regular date ideas so Valentines day usually ends up as a nice dinner out together. If your more adventurous take some of these suggestions to create a Niagara Valentines day date.

1. Dinner

Of course I had to put this on the list. Try some fancy restaurants like AG at the Sterling Inn or Liv Restaurant at White Oaks.

2. Winery Tour

In Niagara we are not short of wineries! Pick one or a few and go on a tour and tasting! It’s different and it’s a fun way to spend the afternoon.

3. Skating

Depending on the weather you may be able to skate at the Brink on the Rink with your date. Overlook Niagara Falls as you skate. Holding hands is encouraged!

4. Movies in or out

Go see a movie you’ve been hoping to see or rent a bunch of movies you love and stay in. Staying in is nice because you get to cuddle. I prefer that over the uncomfortable movie seats!

Niagara Falls Elopment | Ashley and Chris Elope in Niagara Falls

Last month I finally got to see Ashley and Chris join together in marriage. I had been working with Ashley for a few months and had really gotten to enjoying the process. Ashley and Chris have such a great story. Ashley is from Scotland and Chis, Australia! Not only are they “from” these places they were currently living in them as well.  That’s pretty long distance! They met when Ashley took a trip to Australia after graduating, and have been together ever since.

It really was a great experience to see two people from 2 different parts of the world come together to be married. They are so in love and you can really see it.

I wish them the very best with their future life together!

Niagara Wedding Planner | Joel’s 25 Birthday Bash & Gillian’s Place Event

This past Sunday we spent our night coordinating and managing a red-carpet birthday party for a local photographer, Joel Hannigan. Joel is not only an amazing photographer, but also a really great guy. He threw this party for himself at Cache with all of the proceeds going to Gillian’s Place, a women’s shelter here in the Niagara Region. The night turned out great! We were able to raise $2500, surpassing our goal!

Planning this event with Joel was super fun. We had so many creative ideas and we made them happen.

Some of the highlights of the night were:

  • VIP area. A lounge for the VIP’s with a candy table and designer cupcakes, provided by Candy by Katie and Designer Delights. Our VIP’s also got to take home a swag bag provided by Enchantment Makeup Artistry, with cookies from Sweet Beginnings.
  • Signature Drink Table. Everyone had the option to purchase drink tickets with 100% of the proceeds going towards Gillian’s Place. Cache provided us with the drinks, and boy were they yummy! We had a green coconut rum and pineapple, and a watermelon vodka cocktail.
  • Red Carpet Photo Op. All of our guests had the opportunity to have their photo taken outside of Cache, with a backdrop specially ordered by Joel.
  • Raffle and Silent Auction table. We had many prizes donated by numerous, generous business’s.
  • LMT Connection and the Chops Horns played live.
  • Cache’s amazing chef provided us with the most delicious hors d’ouerves, peaches and brie on a crostini, coconut chicken, shrimp, and sushi.

Niagara Falls Wedding Planner| Current Events & News: Bridezilla Attack

Wow, this bride went way to far! Any vendor needs to be treated with respect, along with guests and your wedding party. Treating anyone the way she treated this person is completely unacceptable. I hope for her husbands sake that this was just “bridaldemia”.

Take a look at this article from Huffington Post.

Bridezilla Cartoon

Please make sure you treat your entire wedding with respect. I’ve seen so many people ruin relationships because they get wrapped up in the drama. Yes, this is your day and you want everything to be perfect but don’t “test” your realtionships with friends and family or vendors, or they will walk away!

Niagara Wedding Planner- Current Events: Wine and Cheese Vendor Event

Niagara wedding vendors This weekend I hosted a small vendor event to mix and mingle with some local wedding vendors. As a wedding planner it is so important to build and maintain great relationships with other professionals in the industry. We had the chance to chat about current events, give each other great advice, and build working friendships.

The vendors in attendance were:

Melanie from Lush Florals see her featured here

Jesse from Jesse James Photography see him featured here

Katie from Candy by Katie keep an eye out for her upcoming feature!
